New Sunscreen Alert! [REVIEW] Petal Velvet Sunaway by Althea Korea

November 7, 2018

Hey, Kbeauty junkies!

I'm back with another special review from Philippine's fave Kbeauty online store - Althea Korea

It's been about three weeks I think since I received this wonderful package from Althea and I honestly took that time to use and get to know this new sunscreen from Althea's Petal Velvet line.

This package came with the other products on the Petal Velvet line:

I tried the Petal Velvet powder before and I'm a total a fan of the  #0 - Translucent shade. I usually have it with me all the time whenever I travel and I shared the other shades with my friends and they're totally loving it too!

I have high hopes for the sunscreen so I really took my time to review it before I make a detailed review for my followers. So, let's get down to business.

My Skin Type:
Overly sensitive skin
Dry skin
Eczema prone skin
Breakout prone skin

Petal Velvet Sunaway's main key ingredient is the Damask rose. Damask rose has a natural nano molecular composition that is rich in vitamins to penetrate deep into the skin, soothing sensitives and strengthening it for a radiant glow. The Damask rose extract on this product is for moisturization and smoothening of the skin.

CLAIMS:

IN MY HONEST OPINION:

What I love about this sunscreen is that it's very travel friendly. The product size is just right and can fit on any small pouch I have and I can definitely bring it for summer traveling.

Other than that, I don't really have anything I like about this product. I feel like I have the most complicated skin in the world so It's really difficult for me to find a good product match for my skin.

First of all, the product is too watery for my liking. I had to really shake it for a minute in order to achieve a little bit of creamy consistency.

Because it has that watery consistency, it takes forever to blend the sunscreen.

Once you're done blending it. It ends with a semi matte finish and a very sticky - tacky feeling. I'm not really sure if has something to do with the Metro Manila weather but the product was really sticky to my liking. Another is that this sunscreen emits a very very strong smell of the Damask rose - which is too much again for me. Not only that, It gave me a few itchyness once the product has settled on my skin. It did triggered a bit of my eczema so it's another no - no product for me.

What this product reminds me of is how similar it is to those waterproof sunscreens and sunblocks that you specifically take to the beach. (Beach Hut, Dermplus, etc). I won't really recommend this for daily use except when you're going on a vacation or you're going swimming.

Overall, it didn't give me that hydrating feeling. My skin felt much tighter and itchy and dry. I really wanted to love this product and give a positive result but I just couldn't. So, I'm sticking with my all-time fave sunscreen which I also bought from Althea's website before: COSRX's Aloe Soothing Sun Cream.

But hey, this is just me. My skin condition is probably waaay more complicated that yours and this review should not hinder you from trying out this product if you like. *Wink
