Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial Mask Review

January 23, 2017

I have been raving about this clay mask ever since my last Althea blog post and I finally have the time to write about it!

Read Dear Klair Vitamin C Serum here.

I was so hooked in trying out different Korean skin care products for the last few months and I have spent tons of money in the process! One of the things that I loved about their skin care routine is the masks. I mean, there's so much to choose from! I tried dozens of face masks until I finally settled with Skin&Lab's Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial Mask.

Direction says:

Apply enough amount of the clay mask over your face after toning.
Avoid direct eye are. Leave it for 10 - 15 minutes to dry. Rinse it off with clean water followed by thorough tonight and moisturizing. Can be also used partially on problematic area to control excess sebum secretion.

The texture is a bit rough and thick but it smells so good! Minty and fresh.

I usually start putting it on my forehead, all the way to my nose, cheeks, and chin. Your skin will feel a little bit something in between sting and itch but it's not something to be worried about. The first time I tried this, I was really worried because the skin feels a bit off and I knew that It will leave my skin either burned or really dry.

Surprisingly, after 15 minutes, when all the tingling sensation stopped, I rinsed off the clay mask and didn't found any irritation! I love love love how this mask leaves my skin soft and hydrated. I have been using this for quote some time now and I did noticed the pores on the side of my nose are less visible. Oh, and I have to mention that your skin will feel so clean right after using this.

How I use this in order of my other products:

1. Dear Klairs Cleansing Oil
2. Mustela Stelatopia Cleansing Cream
3. Witch Hazel Toner
4. Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial
5. Witch Hazel Toner
6. Dear Klairs Vitamin C Serum
7. Aloe Vera Gel Cream Moisturizer

Sometimes, I use it everyday or every other day. Depends on my mood and schedule. I can also swear by this product. It works wonders and doesn't harm my skin.

You can check out Skin&Lab Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial Mask from Althea website here.

Educational - Activity Cloth Book For Your Kids by Urbanmom Ph

January 14, 2017

Hiya, rookie moms!

OMG! OMG! OMG! Are your kids are on their mimicking and exploration stage? My kid is and I just found the perfect activity "toy" for Arya.

I have recently met with my ex-co-office-mate / bff / beshicakes / Arya's ninong last month for some catch-up and so he could hand over his Christmas present for Arya.

I asked him to get something educational for Arya and specifically asked for a cloth book. As early as now, I know that Arya will love to read. She likes flipping her books and pointing on the words and saying nonsense sounds but the problem is that she rips the paper apart! As in, nakakaloka, nasisira ang mga books niya!

So, as soon as I got home, I handed her her present and she starts flipping and playing with her new cloth book.

Lookie! How cute and adorbs are these pages!

You can pick the petals, and the leaf and put them on the pot, and unzip and zip the octopus' tentacles!

Maybe learn how to read the clock, too? Naah, too early!
But we can definitely start counting!

Oh, Arya loves picking and sticking the head lights as well as the apples!

Arya still ignore this puzzle...

Arya looooooves the cat, and she actually say the word cat, point on the cat, and say meow!

This is Arya's fave page. We actually started working on this page, for two days I thought her how to say the primary colors, and now, whenever she picks them, she says the actual color! The veggies, she likes too! She can't say Brown yet, but she loves saying "Porpol!"

The last page is fun too! Arya likes the face-shaped emoticons and picks the flowers of the other page. She haven't figured out the shaped rings yet. :)

This cloth book can keep her occupied for thirty minutes up to an hour! Imagine all the things you could do at that time! Lol! But, seriously, hands down to whoever invented cloth books! I had one when I was little and enjoyed it as much too!

My friend says this cloth book was bought from urbanmomph in a bazaar. You can check out their Instagram page here.

I honestly am in love with this cloth book, I think imma hoard more! Haha!

Anti - Acne Pill : Lactezin Review

January 7, 2017

Hiya, Rookie Mommas!

This blog post is going to be straight-forward, simple, and full of positive review!

So, last year I have been battling with both eczema and hormonal acne. My eczema and acne was just alternating and I can't treat my skin despite all the expensive beauty products and countless Korean skincare routine I have tried. Until one day, I've decided that maybe it's time to really invest internally, and by that I mean being healthy, drinking lots of water, eating fruits and veggies, etc.

However, I realized that it takes so much time and effort to be internally healthy. Plus, the fact that gluten - free and organic food cost a lot of money! Personally, I don't have any hesitation taking food supplements. I have tried Spirulina, Barley, Circulan, Whitening vitamins and other supplements which by the way did contribute positively on my health. I think...

Middle of December, 2016, I heard about Lactezin, Unilab's newest product that helps combat acne. It has Vitamin E and Zinc too! At the time, I was taking Myra E, Grapeseed Oil and Vitamin C before I sleep. I researched more and finally decided to buy Lactezin that's good for 30 days.

Here's my detailed review:

Lactezin Anti - Acne Pill
Price: P20.00 per capsule
Where to buy: I bought mine from Watsons

I wasn't able to take before and after photo. It's not really my thing and I didn't feel like I need to because I didn't expect how drastically it will change my skin. I honestly wished I did took photos, my gaaahd! My skin was really ugly at that point. So before I go into detail note my disclaimer below:

I am not paid to write a positive review about Lactezin. This is not a sponsored post and I have bought this product with my own money and I writing it because it really does work!

How I took the pill:

I took 1 pill every morning and I took 1 grapeseed oil from ATC brand before I sleep. My skin condition on the first day was really bad. I had eczema on my cheeks, acne breakouts on the sides of my face specifically on the sides of my forehead and the ones near my ears, I also have a few on my chin and even the sides of my mouth. Although this was not full blown acne, these ones are a bit small and really bumpy, and they have whiteheads already.

When I woke up the next

This might sound over exaggerated but trust me on this one. The redness of my eczema were gone, the dry patches were gone, there were still a few dry patches but not as bad as the day before I took the pill, and, here goes the crazy part, ALL. MY. PIMPLES. WERE. GONE! THEY ALL COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED I was like, WTF! *I never used so many caps lock before on any of my post so this should make it more convincing for you. Haha!

Okay, at this point, my skin condition changed dramatically overnight! I swear, my skin was glowing! So, I thought, should I stop taking the pill? I figured, maybe not? Let's see how my skin would be if I finish the 30 capsules.

After week 1

My skin had never been this great. I stopped using other skin care products and decided to stick with my usual skin care routine. I'll share it below so you have an idea what other stuff I put on my face. BUT, I am telling you now that these products did not contribute much on fighting acne and did little to reducing my eczema because I was already using them a month before a took the pill.

My Skin care routine:
1. Wash my face with Dear Klairs Cleansing Oil (to remove dirt / make up)
2. Wash my Face with Mustela Stelatopia cream (for eczema prone skin)
3. Use toner, I use a Witch Hazel toner as this type of toner works really good on my skin.
4. Use Dear Klairs Vitamin C Serum (I bought from Althea, you can read my review here).
5. Use Aloe Vera gel cream (my day and night moisturizer from Nature Republic).

I have consumed 15 capsules and I have 15 capsules left. Ideally, you should take 2 capsules per day. However, since the beginning I opt to just take 1 capsule because I was still hesitant as this is not really your usual food supplement. Up until now, I still take 1 capsule after breakfast or before lunch.

I can say and vouch for this product. It works. 100% tested and safe! I have never felt this confident with my own skin. I usually wear BB creams or cushions when I go out but since then, my skin has gotten a lot better, no more eczema, no more breakouts, no more pimples. I don't feel the need to wear make-up, I do use a bit of CC cream to correct my skin color but that's that. Hindi ko akalaing dadating ang araw na ito. Chos! Ito yung masasabi kong totoong gandang hindi inaakala.

1. I never experienced any negative side effect
2. Available and accessible to buy
3. Brand is trusted and safe
4. You'll see immediate results
5. Has Vitamin E and Zinc

1. It is a bit pricey. It's P600.00 for 30 capsules. The advisable intake is two each day, so If you follow that, it will cost you P1,200.00 for 60 capsules.

I don't have anything much to say except that I love this product and will probably keep using it. :)

I do want to consult them on their Facebook page if it is safe to continuously use this as my maintenance beauty pill. I'll make sure to update this thread if I get an answer from them.

UPDATE: 1/14/2017
So, Lactezin's community manager was able to respond on my FB inquiry whether or not Lactezin is safe to as a maintenance beauty pill and here is their reply:

Hello, Joarra! Yes. Lactezin contains Lactoferrin, Vitamin E and Zinc. Lactoferrin is considered GRAS (generally regarded as safe) by the US FDA. Lactoferrin is actually found in human breast milk, and bodily fluids from the eye, nose, respiratory tract, and intestine. In addition, lactoferrin in high dose is present in infant milk formulation to simulate the endogenous lactoferrin from natural breast milk. Vitamin E is naturally found in food and is a known antioxidant. It is safe for consumption with a daily recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of 22.4 IU. The total daily dose of vitamin E in Lactezin does not exceed the RDA. Similarly, zinc is an essential mineral naturally present in various foods. It is safe for consumption with a daily recommended dietary allowance of up to 11 mg. As with vitamin E, the total daily dose of zinc in Lactezin does not exceed the RDA. As a general reminder, we recommend that you consult your doctor before taking any medicine, including vitamins. Your doctor will be in the best position to advise what is the most suitable based on your age, health status and nutritional needs.
There you go! So it is safe to make it as your beauty pill. However, they still encourage you to see your doctor if you have other concerns about the pill. Another inquiry I got is if this is safe to use by breastfeeding moms, answer is, YES! It is also safe for our milking mommas!

I have another update,  I currently have a huge pimple on the side of my nose 2 days ago so I started taking 2 capsules per day, 1 morning, and 1 in the evening before I sleep. Now, the pimple is almost completely healed. Just a little bump.

Since I am self medicating Lactezin, I would still follow the once a day intake but would double it up to two if I have pimples appearing. I have to admit I kinda pushed my body and not getting enough sleep over the past few days because of working at home and taking care of Arya. But hey, thank God, there is Lactezin!

UPDATE: 1/23/2017

I finished by 30 capsules already and bought more capsules. Yay!
Oh, btw, I stopped using the pill about a week ago because I had a flu and I was taking paracetamols, vitamin c and other stuff so I didn't want to take Lactezin because I feel like I'm taking so much meds at the same time. Over the time I stopped using the pill, my skin didn't break out but one or two pimple appeared but it's no biggie, also due to the cold weather, my eczema is a bit showing on my cheeks and started getting flaky again so I had to use petroleum jelly to calm it down.

UPDATE 3/17/2017

Hey all! It's been a while since my last update. Just a quick review,

  • No more cystic or huge pimples
  • My skin is fairer
  • I still get tiny pimple
  • If I do get pimple, it is easily dried out by the next day
  • I take Lactezin 2x a day, with Grape seed oil in the morning
UPDATE 4/19/2017

So I still get a lot of emails and private messages on Facebook and Instagram so I decided to make a quick Q&A video in our Youtube channel which you should totally check out BEFORE you start typing your question here. :)

See my skin condition + Lactezin Q&A below.
Watch it here.

Overall, my skin is still looking better compared to how my skin was before I started taking Lactezin. It is really effective and I am 100% satisfied with this product. :)

Mommas, remember to keep your skin looking youthful! Taking care of yourselves should be on your everyday To-Do list too!

If you started taking this too, let me know how it did to your skin on the comments below!

8 Rewards card you need as a new mom

January 1, 2017

Happy New Year!

So, I was busy re-organizing my wallet this morning when I realized that I have so many membership / loyalty cards! I decided It might be helpful it I put the important ones out here.

As far as I remembered, the only loyalty cards I have before getting married was the Lay Bare and Nature Republic card. Whew!  I didn't realize up until now that I am officially became a loyalty card hoarder! Hah!
Loyalty / Rewards Card I own:

1. Nature Republic - I am an avid fan of Nature Republic. This is where I usually get my aloe vera products. Their loyalty card offers you an instant 10% off on any products you buy from their store. Win! Win! I cannot remember how much it took me to get the card. Best if you ask the cashier when you're there. Don't neglect your skin even after you became a mom. *Wink

2. Lay Bare - I am a very hairy woman. Let's just leave it at that. Their loyalty card slashes off 10% of any services availed on their store. It doesn't apply on their products though. And you can only get them when you have spent about P5,000.00 on their services. Ask the receptionist on your next appointment. Do your kilay here whenever you can get that free time.

3. SM Advantage Card - I just recently acquired my temporary card. Everyone has this card, so better have it also. It saves you a lot of points from shopping for my groceries. I think the conversion rate is P1.00 for every P100.00 spent and you exchange it for some voucher when you want to.

4. Mercury Drug Suki Card - This has got to be my most fave card. We easily get sick and buy a lot of vitamins, and even sometimes, Arya's milk in any Mercury Drug store so I really use this card a lot. The conversion is P1.00 for every P100.00 spent and you can automatically use it at the cashier to get discount when you want to.

5. 7/11 Everyday Rewards Card - I knew I just had to get these. There is a 7/11 store near our house and I always go and buy ice cream. I think the card only cost me less than P50.00

6. Ever Savers Club Card - An Ever supermarket recently opened a few steps away from our subdivision and I knew I had to get the card! You can get the card after spending P4,000.00 combined receipts. It works just like an SM Advantage Card as well.

7. Baby Company Mom Card - Trust me on this, this card is your most essential rewards card if you're a first time mom. Go get yourself one even after you get married! Conversion is P1.00 for every P100.00 spent. I have used this card to get discount so  many times!

8. Toy Kingdom Membership Card - Now, if you have a toddler already. Get this card. No questions ask. We'll be able to use this through out our lifetime, I swear!

Did I miss anything? Share whatever loyalty cards you have on your wallet on the comments below, too!

Rookie Mommy PH - gotta love rewards!
