Feeding: Organic snacks for our babies

February 16, 2016

Hiya, rookie moms!

It's been a while and I have been so very busy with work. Anyway, I'm back with a review and a mini giveaway!

Since Arya started eating solids, we have tried giving her potatoes, squash, sayote, lugaw, oranges, and apples. However, there were some days that she'll refuse eating and I felt like she seemed so tired eating the same food over and over again.

We bought Cerelac - Wheat and Banana flavor and she loved it a lot. The only concern that I have with Cerelac is that everyone says it is like junk food for babies because of the sugar and other content.

So here I am searching for healthy snacks for babies, I thank the moms of 3rd Quarter Pinay Babies of 2015 Facebook group for directing me to Healthy Options. This organic store sells imported and high quality products of fresh produce that caters to all ages.

I went to check Healthy Options in Trinoma branch and surprised to see a lot of healthy food choices for babies. I was really thrilled! I mean, finally! Arya can taste something nicer and healthier.

Here's what I got,

Apologies for the blurred photo. I took this at 4 am while I get ready for work.

NurturMe Quinoa P395.00
Happy Tots Banana, Peache & Mango Puree P159.00
Happy Tots Green Bean, Pear & Peas Puree P159.00

From NurtureMe website:

"Why our Quinoa? It’s the only quinoa-based cereal for infants with 100% naturally occurring plant-based nutrients, which aid in digestion, nutrient absorption and support baby’s natural growth pattern."
- USDA Organic
- Gluten Free
- BPA Free
- Non Gmo
(GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms, which refers to any food product that has been altered at the gene level.)

Review:
I honestly am confused why Arya loved this. She really does! It's weird, actually. It tasted like those watermelon seeds / pakwan seed that we love munching when we're bored. So far, we didn't experienced any bad reaction on her for eating Quinoa. Her poop smells the same and the consistency is the same as well. So, thumbs up for this. Quinoa for babies! Worth the money given the health benefits it gives to my daughter.

From Happy Tots website:

Review:
Arya didn't like the flavour of this one probably because it's a bit sour. I tasted this and it cam sour to my tastebuds, but I do like it. Arya ate only a few teaspoons and I decided to stop because it might upset her tummy. Maybe I'll try this again when she's a bit older. If you asked me what happened to the left over, well, I ate it, because I love anything sour. Haha!
Also, you only have 24 hours to consume the puree after opening it.

Arya finds this okay. She's not crazy about it but she's eating them and not rejecting unlike the first flavor that we got. It's filled with greens which is what I like since we cant feed her green leafy vegetables yet. So this is a thumbs up as well.

We got a few extra pouch and I feel like she's not gonna finish them soon so I'm giving away 1 Happy Tot Pouch Green bean, pear & peas flavor to one lucky momma and baby! Yaay!
