Travel: Baby's First Overnight Out: Tips and Tricks

November 1, 2015

Arya with her grandmother (my mama)

Me and my husband just recently decided to take Arya out on an overnight stay over to my side of the family. Arya is 3 and a half months old and this is her very first time to go out some place else other than her monthly visits to the pediatrician.

Arya spent a day in my mom's house and another day at my grandma's house. And oh, my, god, we never knew that we'd end up bringing almost every item that she has! We wanted to make her first day out as comfortable and fun so we prepped up the things that she didn't want to miss.

So, if you're planning a trip somewhere with your little one, our list might help you save some time packing your bags. or at least save you some space in your car.

Arya's First Overnight Out "What To Bring" List:

  • Milk (Enfamil A+1, 900 grams can) + Milk container
  • 6 Feeding bottles
  • Sterilizer + Bottle brush and liquid washer
  • Water for the milk
  • Burp pads
  • Rubber mat
  • Diapers
  • Alcohol
  • Cotton balls
  • Powder
  • Onesies, Pajamas, T-Shirt, Cap
  • Socks
  • Mittens
  • Bath Tub + Baby shampoo, Bath net
  • Bath towel
  • Anti-mosquito patch
  • Toys
  • Arya's pillow, blanket, bed sheets
  • Arya's night light

Seems so many right? We don't have a stroller yet so that's not on the list, but if we do, it's probably also in there. And I encourage you to bring it as well. If you don't want to bring a stroller because it's bulky and heavy, try to bring a carrier instead.

Arya's first overnight out ended up really fun! She was never cranky or fussy. She just stayed her usual self. People around her had so much fun playing and carrying her!

The Trick

The only trick that I could give is to make your baby comfortable as much as you can. So, bring all the things that your baby loves so that your baby still gets familiar even though your baby is in a new environment. Also, make sure that the people who will be carrying your baby washes their hands first or at least share your alcohol or hand sanitizer with them. You don't want your baby getting virus outside.

Have you taken your baby out yet? Please do share your story to me as well! It might help me a lot when we take Arya out again. :)

Xoxo,
Rookie Mommy PH - Glad we took Arya out. We had so much fun!

  1. No matter how much we try, we always forget some stuff to carry for our baby's overnight out. This list would be really helpful for us now.
