Cashback from Online Shopping!

September 30, 2015

Everyone who knows me and follows this blog should have known by now how much I enjoy online shopping. I mean, seriously, who doesn’t? And who has the time to go shopping when you are a 2month old baby lying around you house?

I’ve been buying disposable diapers, Arya’s toys, and even food supplements online. I’m actually thinking if I should buy gadgets soon. Waddya think?

With the Christmas season rushing in, count downs here and there are already taking place, and I’m no different. I still haven’t done my gift shopping yet. And I do not wish to experience the same horror that I did a year ago. Malls are literally hell. So, for this year, I am considering of buying all of my Christmas gifts online. Less hassle, no traffic and busy crowd. Plus, the only time that I get to get out of the house is whenever Arya is sleeping, or is taken care by my mother-in-law.

If you love online shopping as much as I do, I’m sure you’re going to love this. I recently just discovered this online shopping website called Shopback.

Shopback is a cashback site. What is that? Don’t worry, I thought of the same question.
So basically, Shopback gives customers who shop online a portion of their money back if they do it through Shopback, which helps them save money. They have a wide selection of merchants you can find on their site. Customers can just look for their favourite online store or try a new one (click here to see the best deals), and click “get cashback” to be redirected to the shop. Once a purchase is made, a cashback would be awarded to their Shopback account. Shopback is already established and known in Singapore and Malaysia, and they are just starting in the Philippines and expanding to the rest of Southeast Asia.

Knowing how much Filipinos love online shopping I am sure that we are in a treat with Shopback!

So, I just signed-up and excited to make my first purchase through them soon as I’ve seen some merchants that I have tried before.

Let me walk you through their website:

You can sign-up with either your personal email or Facebook account. As for me, I signed-up using my email account, and you can easily enjoy Shopback with these 3-easy steps:

What’s fun is that there is a referral bonus with every successful referral.

Using my own referral link, you can click here
to sign-up to Shopback: http://shopback.ph/r/XPLnWh

Here are some of the popular merchants that you may see on their site:

I realised you can get cashback for a lot of online stores. Like Lazadaoffers up to 10% cashback, and I usually shop in Lazada for almost anything. Zalora, where I shop for clothes, offers upto 12% cashback as well as Zalora coupon codes. I also recently discovered AliExpress that has up to 10% cashback. AliExpress is a shopping site that is almost similar to Lazada but it is operating internationally. I haven’t tried purchasing from AliExpress but I think I might try it soon since they offer wonderful products for mothers like me.

I am actually eyeing on some of these items right now,

Those cute clothing set will look so pretty on Arya! I think I’ll make that purchase really soon! I just have to figure out if whether they ship the items right at your door-step or if it lands at the Post Office. And of course, if the items will be tax-free when it gets here. And as soon as I do, I promise to update this blog post for you. *wink wink

Oh, and by the way, another great thing about shopping online with Shopback is that you get discounts that is only available through them, plus you get your cashback reward for every successful purchase. More saving for you, diba!

Arya will be running out of diaper stash soon, and I usually get them from Lazada or Cudsly. I’ll try to make the purchase through them soon and I promise to let you know how it goes!

You can visit their website at www.shopback.ph and follow their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/shopbackphilippines

Nappy Corner: 3 Reasons Why Lampin Is Best For Your Baby

September 28, 2015

Lampin = Cloth Diapers

I remember my mom used to tell to only use lampin to Arya because she used lampins to all of her children. Same with my grandmother and also to my mother-in-law. At first, I didn't want to use lampins because I am not a fan of doing laundry. However, the "elders" insisted it and I did received a lot of lampins from my baby shower that it invaded an entire cabinet.

My experience with using lampins is beyond great. Arya loved it too very much. Although I never had any bad experience with using disposable diapers, we intended to stick with it during the night when Arya sleeps up to almost 6-8 hours straight, or after she took a bath. We now use mostly lampins on the day.

My lampins are the traditional gauze type or the bird's eye view type. I wanted to invest on buying fashionable and cute cloth diapers but we are a bit hesitant to use it. Cloth diapers works just like disposable diapers, the pee will be absorbed by soakers and may stay on for a few hours. - which we are not comfortable with. With the lampins, we immediately change it as soon as it's wet because we don't want to irritate Arya's bum.

So, here's our take on why using lampins is best for your baby:

  1. Comfort. Presko! Using lampin or cloth diapers are much preferred by babies simply because they are very comfortable.
  2. Rash-Free. Because you immediately remove the wet lampin after using it, you prevent the formation of those nasty red dots.
  3. Less fussy baby. Without the plastic feeling and garters of a disposable diaper, Arya became less fussy, leaving more time for play time!
Playful Arya

Sleeping Arya

If you'll ask me how I well I do my laundry...Well, I don't. My mother-in-law loves washing Arya's lampins. We have about 50 lampins, mostly from St. Patrick's Organic gauze, Baby Company, and SM Department Store.

Another great benefit for you is that using lampins is very cheap and can save you a lot of money if you exclusively use disposable diapers. We noticed that a pack of 24 pcs disposable diapers lasts 3 days if we exclusively used disposables, but when we started using lampins, our 24 pcs disposable diapers lasts for about a week.

I wish we could try using those cute cloth diapers soon! :)

Rookie Mommy Votes For Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs 2015

September 24, 2015

Being trained by digital marketing professionals in the world of advertising, I often find myself amused by the bloggers who I make contact with whenever I have a new project or campaign to launch. Bloggers plays such as important role nowadays to be able to push a brand's campaign out there.

I for one, saw this opportunity and regretted that I did not start blogging back then, considering I love to write. One reason is that I wasn't able to enter a good market in the blogging world. There's just so much of everything and finding your niche is not an easy task.

Until the day I found out that I was pregnant. I saw this opportunity and studied the motherhood blog industry - found only a few! And that's how Rookie Mommy Ph was born.

Today, Rookie Mommy Ph is doing a wonderful job helping mothers solve their problems from pregnancy, to childbirth, to postpartum depression, to breast feeding, and even the little things we, as a new mom and parent don't know about. Thanks to my hundreds of loyal followers and supporters from different Facebook groups and forums.

October 10, 2015, marks another exciting event for new bloggers just like me.

The most awaited Digital Influencers Marketing Summit is finally happening again and Rookie Mommy Ph is qualified to be one of the top emerging influential blogs in the Philippines for this year. Yaaay!

Aside from Rookie Mommy Ph being qualified, I am also here to give out my vote to some of the new blogs that I found worth sharing and has big potential for the years to come:

  1. Chef Jay's Kitchen - I'm a foodie so this blog has my vote! Most popular food blogs started with a great branding. And that's what Chef Jay's Kitchen has. I like how he created his branding and identity. For sure, this blog will go a long way!

  3. Of Dreams and Things - I rarely search for  fashion, beauty tips/hacks and make-ups but when I do, I want it simple. I hate site clutter and this blog gave light to my sight.
  4. Manila Concert Junkies - Just like any other concert blogs, this one has a lot of potential too. It is up to date and its entries are fun and easy to consume.
  5. Doctor Eamer's Blog - I am an aspiring self-published author and got more inspired when I saw how good this blog is. It is written in Filipino and attracts a lot of readers and commenters. Most of his stories are all about the matters of the heart which most Filipinos are a big fan of.
  6. TakeOff Philippines - Can be one of the few promising travel and foodie blogs out there. His way of writing his posts takes me directly to the paradise of his topic.

Baby Bathing 101: 8 Things You Can Do To Prevent Your Baby From Crying

September 23, 2015

"It's bath time? Oh, no! iiyak nanaman si baby niyan!"

As a new mom, you have to admit it. You were sweating, panicking, and did not know what to do the first time you decided to bathe your baby. But you have no choice because your baby is already smelling like a spoiled milk and he/she is already having those nasty red dots all over.

Been there, done that!

I remember wanting to bathe Arya alone when we got home from the hospital but I was so afraid that I might hurt her. I mean seriously, I don't know anything about bathing a baby. I only bathed a cat, and let's just stick with that. Not!

Arya hated the water. The moment she got in the tub, she will automatically cry. She will just cry and cry and we ended up not being able to wash the soap residue because she won't stop crying until she's out of the tub!

Luckily, after a few tries of doing a LOT of things to calm her down, we finally succeed! Sharing with you my own personal tips on how you can bathe your baby with him or her smiling at you while you scrub those libag away.

  1. Feeding. You have to make sure that your baby is full before bathing her. That way, you eliminate a reason why she will became fussy while in the tub. We usually bathe her 30 minutes after she feed regardless of the time of the day. But, if you may ask, we bathe her between 10:30 am - 3:00 pm.
  2. Burping. You don't want baby who hiccups while in the tub. It adds up to your baby being fussy and distracted. We burp Arya before and after feeding. Just making sure she's air free in her tummy.
  3. Pooping. If you have a baby who has a regular pooping schedule, chances are that she or he will have a wonderful time in the tub. Arya used to poop in the morning all the time and we can see how happy and relaxed she is at bath time after every poop.
  4. Water. Always check the temperature of the water. Babies' body temperature is very unstable. What's mild to you may still be hot to them. Make sure you have a towel ready to wrap to your baby as soon as you pick them out of the tub. Oh, and turn off the fan or ac while you're at it.
  5. Singing. Make a sound. Any sound. It doesn't matter if you just blabber or sing a piece from Sinatra. Babies love it when you are talking to them while bathing. It's a good distraction for them as well.
  6. Be gentle. Make sure to always support every part of your baby. Don't even blink for the entire duration if you can. Those tiny hands and feet can go anywhere! Trust me
  7. Do not panic. Easy to say than done. Just calm down. Babies can sense if you are tense and they will become tense too. Just relax and smile to your baby.
  8. Rinse. Lastly, no matter how loudly your baby cries, you have to make sure that you rinsed them properly. You don't want those residues stuck to your baby's skin because they will turn into these nasty rashes. And that's a lot harder to solve. And costly too!
Little Arya having her bath.

There you go! I hope my tips will help you out. It will take a lot of practice and a few tries to turn your baby's cries into smiles but I'm sure that you'll eventually get there.

Rookie Mommy PH - Now loves bath time!

Rustan’s Supermarket’s Goodness Gang is back with all new “super food stars

Rustan’s Supermarket’s popular Goodness Gang is making a comeback with brand new members of the Superfoodz Edition, and they’re hitting the shelves as heroes of healthy eating and good nutrition.

Known for fighting off chronic diseases, heart and bone problems, obesity, and simple illnesses, this year’s out to lead you onto the path to eating well and right, and keeping you in tiptop shape.

Fiber, meanwhile, is Alex the Action Apple’s specialty, which he uses to stop high levels of bad cholesterol while his B-Complex vitamins protect the red blood cells and nervous system.

A mighty defender against infections and diseases, Billy the Brilliant Blueberry may be small, but he has more antioxidants than most other bigger fruits and vegetables. Patrick the Powerful Pea is another hero to watch out for as he saves the joints, lungs, heart, and bones from painful conditions. There’s also Thomas the Trusted Tomato, whose choice weapon is lycopene that nourishes cell membranes to remove the jun out of cells and keep the good nutrients in.

Vitamin C is Olivia the Outgoing Orange’s super strength, which repairs skin damage due to the sun and pollution while also defeating nasty colds and flu. Finally there’s Fiona the Fantastic Fig, who combats the negative effects of processed food, salt, and fat with potassium and fiber.

Rustan’s Supermarket customers can get their hands on the Goodness Gang beginning September 1 until November 30 with eight colorful, adorable plush toys that can be redeemed through stickers gained from shopping in Rustan’s and purchasing sponsors’

#MomMoment: Spa Wherever You Are Mobile Spa Experience

September 14, 2015

Hiya, Rookie Mom!

I have been aching all over and badly needed and wanting to get a massage for quite some time now. I honestly think that my back will grow rocks and boulders soon if I will not do anything about it. So, I talked to my husband and asked for a weekend off so I can go and check on my sisters and my cat. I made sure that I get all the rest I need in preparation of getting back to taking care of Arya.

What did I do? I slept all day long. I even booked a foot spa with mani and pedi but I over slept. I eventually had to cancel my booking and went back to bed. Until a friend told me to just get a massage. I am just one ride away from SM Fairview and I can get a massage for an hour or more. However, I got too lazy and I just couldn't leave my bed. Oh, how I miss my bed! My favorite bed and my bed ever since I was a little girl. When I decided that I will not go out, I decided to look for home service spa that caters in our area.

Luckily, I found one! Spa Wherever You Are is a home service and mobile spa that caters in Quezon City. They offer massages, manicure, and pedicure. The price is relatively cheap as well! So, I immediately checked their Facebook account and sent them a message asking if I could still make a booking at 7:00 pm that night. Fortunately, they accepted my booking and informed me that they accept booking until 2:00 in the morning. Yay!!!

I asked for a 2-hour Swedish massage and I have to say that my entire experience with them is mommazing! My masseuse arrived on time and she was very professional, I love masseuse who are not talkative and she is just right on spot. Ate Ruby only talks when I ask her something, she was a bit shy so I never did push the conversation much further. Every knead and stroke she does on my back felt like heaven. Honestly, the time flew by and I didn't realize that the massage was over. It seriously didn't felt like it was 2 hours, but it was. *Giggles

Their masseuse was dropped and picked-up at my house so it is very convenient for me and ate Ruby. I got her number and told her that I will be booking again as soon as I get another day-off.

The massage only cost me P500.00, that's P250.00 per hour and I had 2 hours. I gave ate Ruby a tip and told her that I will definitely recommend her to some of my mom friends.

If you do want her contact, leave a comment below or send me an email and I'll be really happy to share it with you.

Xoxo,
Rookie Mom PH - aching to get another massage.

Nappy Corner: Arya's Huggies Experience

September 13, 2015

I made sure to get all the popular brands of baby diapers available in the market before Arya arrived. I also made sure that I get to read a lot of reviews about which brands are the best and which are not. However, as I read more on forums, I find it more difficult and confusing as to which brand of diaper that I will finally set my heart into. Until a relative told me that it's best to probably just wait until the baby arrives before hoarding different brands of diapers. That way, I get to know first if a particular brand is safe on Arya's bum, and saved money as well. So, yay!

Huggies became my most favorite diaper brand ever since Arya arrived, simply because of the following reasons:
  1. Size is right for my baby. I used both Huggies Total Protect and Huggies Baby Dry on Arya and I couldn't be happier with the diaper sizing. It fits perfectly on Arya's bum and legs. No red marks!
  2. No leaks. I used to use Huggies Total Protect on Arya when she was just a week old and I had no problem with leakage. Arya is now almost 2 months and I use Huggies Baby Dry on day and night and never experience any leakage at all.
  3. Wetness Indicator. This has to be the plus points for me since not all diapers has this feature. Huggies Total Protect has this and this is really helpful. No need to peek on the side or insert your finger to check if the diaper is wet.
  4. When they said it's dry, it is dry. I find it amazing that even after long hours of using one diaper on Arya that I still could not feel her pee on the surface of the pad no matter how hard I press on it. I make sure that I get to change her diapers every 4-6 hours on day and just use 1 diaper the whole night.
  5. Affordable. Price is important so this has to be a reason why I chose Huggies.  I always buy my diapers online at Cudlsy.com and make sure that I get to buy in bulk rather than buying 1 pack per transaction. That way, the usual P8.00 per diaper becomes almost P4.00 - P5.00 per diaper. I get to save so much. Plus, Cudlsy always offers a sale on Huggies diapers. Double yay!
  6. No allergic reaction or rashes. Yes, I use baby powder on Arya's bum before putting her on a new diaper and Arya never had a rash on her bum. That's a plus!

Arya is currently going 2 months on 15th and she is still using Huggies Baby Dry in size small but I am already hoarding a bunch of medium packs on Cudlsy's recent Huggies diaper sale. :)

Hope this helps!

CUDSLY: Rookie Mommy PH's Favorite One-Stop Online Store

September 12, 2015

Online shopping is one of my favorite things to do even before I got pregnant and it is no different today. One of my favorite online stores for babies, kids, and mothers to be is Cudlsy.com.

I always find myself browsing through their website even though I am not buying anything. Cudsly offers a wide range of products that is available to babies, toddlers, juniors, and even mothers. I recently bought Arya's Bitbit the Rabbit stuffed animal and a bunch of Arya's favorite diaper here.

Another thing that I love about Cudsly is that there are tons of ways on how you can pay for your order. I usually go by "Cash On Delivery" or Paypal. They also have a very active and awesome staff on their Facebook page which answers promptly all your inquiries and follow-ups of your order, they always have diapers on sale so that is plus as well!

The only downside and negative thing that I have to say about my experience with them is that the orders usually takes more than a week (includes weekends) before my order arrives, so if I have to order diapers, which I have to make sure that I always order in bulk (because that's much cheaper) and plan ahead or estimate when my next order will be because it takes so much time before my item get to me. But, other than that, I am perfectly happy and satisfied customer of Cudsly. *wide smile here

I find their online shop really helpful especially for moms who doesn't have the time to go shopping for their baby needs. You'll find their website very interesting and I am sure that you will not close the browser without purchasing an item from them.

You can visit their Facebook page here:

Enjoy and start shopping, Rookie Mom!

Xoxo,
Rookie Mommy PH - looking forward to my next Cudsly transaction!
